What to watch: October 2019


October is coming and there will be so many movies that also coming to the movie theater. This month, the films that will be shown are dominated by drama and horror genre. So here are the lists for the movies that you should watch this month:


1. Joker
This film is the original story of the Joker like never before on the big screen. Tells the story of a failed comedian, Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who is ignored by society and turns into a cruel and cruel figure. The film is directed by Todd Phillips. What must be understood, this film is a movie that is recommended to be watched by people who are aged 17 years and over. In some parts of the film, there are several scenes of violence. 2. Bebas
Right after watching dark movies like Joker, this movie can be a great option to lighten up your day. Bebas talk about five women and a man who became good friends in high school. However, because of an event, in the end, they separated. After 23 years passed, a member of them was seriously ill, and it was predicted that the rest of her life would not be that long. At that time, she hopes to be able to meet all his best friends again. This film shows two different sides of time, namely 1996 and in the present when they begin to grow up. Bebas was directed by Riri Riza and written by Mira Lesmana and Gina S. Noer. The film stars Marsha Timothy, Maizura, Susan Bachtiar, Sheryl Sheinafia, Indy Barends, Agatha Pricilla, Baim Wong, Baskara Mahendra, Zulfa Maharani, Lutesha, Syifa Hadju, and Amanda Rawles. 3. Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil
After its success in 2014, Disney will now release its second sequel which will air on October 16, 2019, titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Angelina Jolie returning to portray the title role. Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville also return to their previous roles. This fantasy genre film is a continuation to Maleficent's first film that tells about revenge and also faces love and loss. So the film Maleficent this time will answer the ending of the first Maleficent film that might make many people curious.

4. Perempuan Tanah Jahanam

After successfully releasing the film Devoted to Satan, Joko Anwar is now back with his latest work titled Wanita Tanah Jahanam. Starring A-list actors from Indonesia such as Tara Basro, Marrisa Anita, Christine Hakim, Asmara Abigail, Ario Bayu, and Aghniny Haque. This horror film tells the story of Maya and Dini who face problems in the city. Finally made the two decide to visit Maya's hometown after getting word that Maya will inherit her ancestors. Instead of receiving the inheritance, who would have thought if both of them were targeted by local residents to eliminate the curse that was happening in the village. 5. Abominable
Abominable  is an animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio. It was written and directed by Jill Culton and co-directed by Todd Wilderman, and stars the voices of Chloe Bennet, Albert Tsai, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Eddie Izzard, Sarah Paulson, Tsai Chin, and Michelle Wong. It was produced by the same studio as How to Train Your Dragon movies. The film is about a young girl who is with Yeti (a species that look like a scary snowman) hidden on the roof of the house. The Abominable film will take you on an adventure from Shanghai, China to the Himalayan Mountains. When viewed from the trailer, this film offers really interesting visuals. Through graphics that spoil the audience's eyes and fresh colors. Hopefully, the film offered by this film is also strong so that it provides an exciting animated movie watching experience. Very recommended for parents that want to spend the weekend watching cinemas with their children.
