Essential Shoes that Women Should Have

Shoes are love stories just waiting to be told. With seemingly endless options each season, it can be easy to fall into trend-driven styles that need to be swapped out in mere months. Consider the long game and opt-in on the shoes you'll wear season after season, year after year. since sometimes it is so hard for us to pick what shoes should we use for the day to complete the look, so I want to write this to remind myself that I don’t need to buy hundreds of shoes because I’m not going to use them every single time, so here are the shoes that I think every women should own:

Basic Flats
Flats (or skimmer flats) are a no-fuss solution to feeling polished and pulled together while on the go. Flats will never go out of style, and they are comfortable enough to wear all day long. They're equal parts ladylike and casual, meaning we can wear them with pretty pleated skirts, shift dresses, or even cutoffs.

White Sneakers
Neutral kicks in a classic silhouette can be paired with anything from jeans to a chiffon dress. They are great for weekday and weekend shoes or even a casual date night shoes. They’re essential for every woman’s closet. I suggest white sneakers from Adidas, Nike, or Keds because they look so chics yet so comfortable.

Ankle Booties
Knee-high boots are a classic, but ankle boots and over-the-knee boots have also become popular in the last few years and are a great alternative. Booties have become seasonless, and can be worn with pants in the winter or short dresses during the summer.

Slip-On / Espadrilles
The Vans slip-on patterns are always iconic, and this style has an almost perfect 5-star rating. Basically, when it comes to slip-on, Vans is the one to go. Slip-on on or espadrilles are chic, convenient, and suitable for both formal or casual look.

Mules
Another key sandal trend is low-heel mules with either a kitten or chunky heels. This is a shoe finding its feet on Instagram, as By Far, Prada and Mango are just a few of the brands that have created cult mules. If you're not yet ready for sandal season, or simply prefer a more covered-up shoe option, mules may be right for you.

Black Pumps
Nothing can dress up a casual outfit and make you feel better about yourself, like adding a bit of height. It doesn't matter how high or low the heel is, it's just about getting out of flats for a bit. Nothing too strappy, nothing too trendy. Remember these are the basics but a pair of black, dressy high heels are definitely essential.

Neutral or Nude Pumps
Even with as versatile as black pumps are, they simply will not go with everything. Add a neutral-colored (not white) pump to your collection, and you'll have the "basic pump" category of women's shoes covered.

Strappy Low Sandal
This is the 2019 shoes you must have. A minimal and chic sandal that pairs with just about anything. Whether you call them floss heels, naked heels, strappy heels, this is arguably the leading sandal trend of the year. The Row started the return of the skimpy stiletto, and now every brand we can think of has its own version of barely-there sandals.
